Support for Accelerating Student Vaccination, East Java Police Chief Monitors Gresik

JawaPos.com – Face-to-face learning (PTM) has been going on since last Monday (30/8). However, the majority of students in Gresik have not been vaccinated. Now, starting Wednesday (1/9) morning, as many as 8,000 students in six SMA/SMK are targeted to have been vaccinated this week.

On the first day, vaccination was carried out at SMAN 1 Gresik. A total of 1,249 students were vaccinated at SMAN 1. This number includes students in grades X, XI, and XII. To encourage the acceleration of vaccination for students in Pudak City, the East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta immediately reviewed the vaccination implementation at SMAN 1 Gresik.

Nico said that his visit to the school was an encouragement as well as support for student vaccination activities carried out by the Gresik Forkopimda ranks. Moreover, currently the development of Covid-19 continues to decline and face-to-face learning (PTM) has begun to be held.

“Especially in carrying out vaccinations for students. The Regent of Gresik, especially with the Dandim and the Head of the Resort Police, are very helpful and very supportive of vaccination,” said the high-ranking National Police officer with two gold stars on his shoulders.

Nico reminded about the plan to drop large doses of vaccines in early September 2021. Two million doses of vaccines that have arrived in East Java just need to be distributed to all regencies/cities. Gresik was asked to get ready.

“The most important thing is to prepare the puskesmas as the spearhead. I’m sure the Gresik government also expects a big drop so that vaccinations can continue to be accelerated. For that, health workers must be prepared,” explained Nico.

To note, during the visit, Inspector General of Police Nico Afinta was accompanied by PJU Polda East Java, Regent of Gresik Fandi Akhmad Yani, Chief of Police AKBP Arief Fitrianto, and Dandim 0817 Lieutenant Colonel Inf Taufik Ismail. They directly review the injection of vaccines to students.

Meanwhile, Regent Fandi Akhmad Yani said that the health office was ready to start vaccinating students. This week, at least 8,000 doses of the vaccine will be injected to students.

The alumnus of Universitas Airlangga also welcomed the plan to drop a large-scale vaccine in the near future. The dose will be injected to residents at the village level so that the results are more comprehensive and even. Gresik has prepared hundreds of volunteer health workers to help accelerate vaccination.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Gresik Regency Health Office, Mukhibatul Khusna, said that the first phase of student vaccination will be carried out in six schools (see graphic). Starting today (2/9) until Saturday (4/9), the vaccination for eight thousand students is targeted to be completed.

The doctor, the former head of the Sukomulyo Health Center, admitted that his party had carried out the mapping. So far, based on data recorded at the health office, there are 122,568 student targets. “Well, we will finish this the following week,” said the doctor who also serves as Acting Social Service.

Khusna said that the vaccination criteria for the students were teenagers with an age range of 12-17 years. The goal is to support the acceleration of vaccination for students. “The regent wants to focus on students because it supports PTM,” he concluded.

Separately, the Principal of SMAN 1 Gresik, Syafaul Anam, said that until 12.00 yesterday, all students who came to the school hall were injected with the Sinovac vaccine. He admitted that there were no students who did not pass the screening. “Alhamdulillah, our students really welcome vaccination,” he said.

With the vaccination, Syafa said he was very happy. When PTM was implemented since last Monday, there were still parents who were worried if their children went to school. “Tuesday night, I got a call from the student’s guardian, after being vaccinated, his child can join PTM,” he said.

Regarding Yani’s request, Fandi Akhmad Yani’s nickname, his party admitted that they were ready if an evaluation was carried out once a week. Especially regarding the swab test to the teacher by sampling. ”We’ve talked about this. We are ready to do that so that students are safe and PTM can continue to run,” he concluded.
