The National Police Chief Asks the Armed Forces to Use Masks and Vaccines

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo attended a social service event organized by alumni of the 1993 Police Force (Akpol) on Tuesday (31/8) at the Tambora Police. The activity, which was to celebrate the anniversary of the 1993 Police Chief, was carried out in the Java and Bali regions for people affected by COVID-19.

In his speech, Sigit appreciated what the alumni of Akpol 93 had done. He also invited all colleagues from the National Police to continue working and contributing to activities that could help the community.

“I, as the leader of the National Police, take this opportunity to invite and encourage all colleagues in the police to continue to work and contribute to activities that are truly felt by the people affected by COVID-19,” said Sigit.

In addition, Sigit also asked all Polri personnel to continue to cooperate and work hand in hand with all elements of society to keep the corona virus away from the Indonesian nation. This effort can be carried out in accordance with the Government’s Tagline ‘Let’s Wear Masks and Get Vaccine Immediately’.

“Let’s together work hand in hand against Covid-19, save our families, save our society, save our brothers and sisters. ‘Let’s Wear Masks and Let’s Get Vaccine Immediately’, said Sigit.

The former Banten Police Chief also added that the government had just extended the PPKM with various levels until 6 September. This PPKM, said Sigit, is an effort to overcome the Covid-19 growth rate, but on the one hand it also provides space for the economic sector to grow.

The former Police Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit emphasized that the concessions given in the extension of the PPKM must of course be balanced with the implementation of strict health protocols (prokes). Because if not, Sigit said there is a potential for the rate of COVID-19 to increase again.

“Because it is related to the existing leeway if the community does not carry out the health program properly, the potential for the growth rate of COVID will reappear. Therefore, I urge all communities and places that are given leeway to actually carry out the health program,” said Sigit.

He also explained that Indonesia was in the phase of the daily positive number of Covid-19 reaching 56 thousand. Meanwhile, the daily number of COVID-19 is 5,000. For this reason, he invites the entire community to remain disciplined in carrying out the prokes in the midst of the easing given to revive the economy.

“The rate of COVID can be controlled and the economy can be maintained,” said Sigit.

Furthermore, Sigit explained, the government is currently promoting the PeduliLindung application. This is intended to be able to detect people who are active so that all of them can be maintained and always in good health.

Another step, Sigit continued, is to increase tracing and tracking for people who are exposed to COVID-19 so that the correct treatment can be carried out, whether doing centralized isolation (isoter) or being referred to a hospital for treatment.

Accelerating vaccination is also the key to reducing the number of COVID-19. He said President Jokowi’s target of 2 million vaccinations in one day must be achieved by collaborating from all elements, including the central government, regional governments, mass organizations, OKP, volunteers and the community.

“Don’t be euphoric because we are currently still suppressing the number of COVID-19. Therefore, all 3M, 3T and vaccination strategies must work well,” said Sigit.
