PPKM Java-Bali extended again until August 23, this is the previous PPKM evaluation

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The government has decided to extend the Java-Bali Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) until 23 August 2021. Previously, the Java-Bali PPKM ended on Monday 16 August 2021.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan in his official statement on Monday (16/8/2021) night, described the evaluation of the implementation of PPKM 7-16 August 2021. According to him, the implementation of PPKM Levels 4, 3, and 2 during that period in Java-Bali showed better results.

“This can be seen from the trend of confirmed cases on August 15 yesterday which fell by 76% and active cases fell 53% from their peak point. The number of cure rates also increased and the number of deaths continued to decline,” he said.

In addition, a downward trend also occurred in the positivity rate, patient care, confirmed cases, and mortality rates in almost all provinces in Java and Bali.

However, Luhut continued, based on the results of field visits conducted some time ago, there are still improvements that need to be made in several areas. Therefore, intervention measures have been taken by the government.

Namely by mobilizing isoman patients to isolation centers provided by the city/district government and ensuring the availability of drugs and oxygen concentrators.

“So we hope that in the next week there will be significant improvements, especially for the Bali and Greater Malang areas,” said Luhut.

On the other hand, the government sees that most people’s mobility in Java and Bali has returned to normal conditions, the same as before the increase in the delta variant occurred. This indicates a significant increase in community mobility compared to the beginning of last July.

“This actually shows the economy is recovering quickly but there is a risk of an increase in cases in the next 2 to 3 weeks if we are not careful,” he said.
