Reviewing Vaccinations in East Kalimantan, National Police Chief Asks Residents to Be Treated in Central Isolation Places

JAKARTA – TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reviewed the mass vaccination program at BSCC DOME Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, Friday (6/8/2021).

The implementation of this mass vaccination is a collaboration between the TNI-Polri and Balikpapan, involving the AKBID Borneo Medistra, Ummi Aisiyah and the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health, Balikpapan.

“Just now, Pak Commander and I did a direct check related to vaccination activities, where today there are 3,600 doses of vaccine. The first 2,000 vaccines and 1,600 second vaccines,” said Sigit in his written statement.

The National Police Chief said that until now Indonesia is still struggling to deal with the COVID pandemic, the number of which is still quite high.

East Kalimantan, said the National Police Chief, is the region with the highest positive number in the Kalimantan region. So it needs a strategy and handling that is quite massive.

“East Kalimantan has the highest position in the Kalimantan area, so of course there need to be strategic and steps in accordance with the orders from the President, which is related to how to continue to enforce and strictly comply with the health procedures regulations,” said the National Police Chief.

The former Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police also said that the second step was to accelerate vaccination. He also received information that daily active cases in East Kalimantan were still high.

“From the information we get, 76 percent of the people are being treated in hospitals. Then an average of 86-88 percent are treated in a centralized isolation area. And approximately 20 thousand people are being treated in isoman (self-isolation),” said the National Police Chief.

On this occasion, the former Banten Police Chief advised the community to want to be treated in an integrated isolation place because health facilities are much more complete, health workers are also available and treatment is more intensive.

According to him, people who have not dared to go to an integrated isolation place and choose isoman, of course there are risks, especially if there are symptoms.

“I suggest moving to a place that has been prepared. This is to suppress the rate of growth in the number of Covid-19, “said the National Police Chief.

For this reason, the four-star general asked the Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas to increase education regarding this issue so that the public would be placed in the integrated isolation that had been prepared.

Then regarding vaccination, the National Police Chief said that gradually in August there will be an increase in distribution so that acceleration of vaccination can be achieved quickly. This is done so that public health can recover quickly and the economy can get back on track.

For information, there are 8 regencies/cities in East Kalimantan currently implementing PPKM level 4. For this reason, the National Police Chief hopes that this can be improved by lowering the level so that the community’s economy can resume running.

“There are 8 areas in East Kalimantan with restrictions. Slowly, if it can be repaired, there will be leeway, so that economic activity will return,” said the National Police Chief.

Meanwhile, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said the strategy used to reduce the number of COVID-19 in East Kalimantan was three steps.

First implement 3M strictly. Then the implementation of 3T and the third acceleration of vaccination.

“If this is implemented properly and the community supports this program, God willing, East Kalimantan will soon be free from COVID-19,” he said.
