PPKM Level 4 Extended, Food Stalls to Street Vendors Can Open Limited

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo announced the extension of the Level 4 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) application.

The policy will be continued for the next eight days, starting from July 26 to August 2, 2021.

However, there were some adjustments during the extension period of PPKM Level 4.

“We will make some adjustments related to community activities and mobility which will be carried out in stages with extra careful implementation,” Jokowi said in the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube show, Sunday (25/7/2021) night.

During the extension period of PPKM Level 4, food stalls, street vendors, hawker stalls or other business places in open spaces are allowed to open.

Unlike the previous PPKM which only allowed a take away system, during the extension period of PPKM Level 4 visitors are allowed to eat on the spot.

However, there are time and capacity limitations.

“It is allowed to open with strict health protocols until 20.00 and the maximum meal time for each visitor is 20 minutes,” said Jokowi.

In addition, during the extension period of PPKM Level 4, people’s markets that sell daily basic necessities are allowed to open as usual with strict health protocols.

Then, people’s markets that sell other than basic daily needs are allowed to open with a maximum capacity of 50 percent until 15:00.

Then, street vendors, grocery stores, voucher agents or outlets, barbershops, laundromats, hawkers, small workshops, car washes, and other similar small businesses are also allowed to open with strict health protocols.

“Until 21.00,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi invites all parties to comply with PPKM Level 4 rules.

He reminded the public to be disciplined in implementing health protocols starting from wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance.

The President also ordered his staff to increase testing, tracing, and treatment.

“With our joint efforts, God willing, we will soon be free from Covid-19 and the socio-economic activities of the community can return to normal,” said Jokowi.
