The sale of oxygen gas cylinders on social media is being investigated by the police

In the midst of the Corona virus pandemic, the fraudulent sale of oxygen gas cylinders is becoming more common. Through social media, Polda Metro Jaya claimed to have discovered the fraudulent practice.

“We’re looking into that right now. Perhaps we will inform our media colleagues in the near future. On social media and in online retailers, there are persons who sell gas cylinders “In a virtual news conference on Tuesday (6/7/2021), Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Auliansyah Lubis remarked.

The alleged perpetrator admitted to selling oxygen gas cylinders on social media, according to Auliansyah. People that require the tool transfer money to the accused culprits in order to purchase the oxygen gas cylinders that are being given. However, after the money was transferred, the merchant failed to deliver the products that the residents had requested.

According to police, the suspect did not sell oxygen gas cylinders when they were investigated. Auliansyah agreed that his party will give the timeline of the case’s disclosure in the near future.

“There are people who have purchased it, but the seller is lying and is not selling the gas cylinder. We’re working on it as well, and we’ll hopefully be able to share it with our colleagues soon “Auliansyah stated.

Auliansyah also stated that his party was stepping up patrols in cyberspace at this time. His party continues to monitor the usage of public social media, which is regarded problematic during the emergency PPKM period, in addition to monitoring the practice of selling illegal substances and oxygen gas cylinders.

“We also monitor on social media, not just on social media, individuals who sell them (drugs and oxygen gas cylinders), but we will also take action against people who want to cause disturbance and terrify our people,” Auliansyah stated.

Someone on his social network had previously brought up a similar case. A tweet from a Twitter user sparked a social media frenzy. The victim was duped while seeking for an oxygen cylinder, according to the story.

“Hello, a person named Mochammad Hamka Pratama, who claims to be from PT Nisson Indonesia, has just duped us. In his search for oxygen cylinders, he took advantage of our panic. Be wary of this con artist. The phone number is 082310474697 “Don’t be tricked again like we were, yeah,” tweeted @ShaniBudi on Monday (5/7).

A screenshot of a communication between the victim and someone suspected of being a fraud was also attached to the tweet. The victim was instructed to wire Rp 1.5 million to a BTPN account in Mochammad Hamka Pratama’s name.

A photo of a letter of clarification from a company called PT Nisson Indonesia was also provided by the victim. PT Nisson Indonesia verified in the letter that an employee named Mochammad Hamka Pratama did not work for the company.

Komjen Agus Andrianto, the head of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, likewise urged the people not to panic. Agus urged the public to report fraud quickly if they had been a victim.

“The people should not panic so that speculators take advantage of it; if something like that happens, notify it to the local police,” Agus stated when asked for confirmation on Monday (5/7/2021).
