Foreign vessels fish in the waterway thief arrested

The two foreign ships were secured near the Port of Deli Airport, Belawan, Medan, Monday (10/5).

The two vessels that were caught were registered with OCHI / KHF 1937 and SLFA 3082.

During the arrest, Brigadier General Yassin revealed that officers secured a number of suspects named Samarth, a Thai national who was the captain of the 1937 OCHI / KHF ship from Malaysia. He was arrested with three crew members, namely, two Thai foreigners Som Chai and Thawat Chai, and Myanmar foreigner Zin Maung Latt.

From KHF 1937, Ditpolair officers confiscated a number of evidence of illegal fishing, including approximately 1 tonne of mixed type fish, and prohibited fishing gear or trawl nets.

“This action was carried out after the Intelligence Sub-Directorate on Wednesday (5/5) received information from a fisherman from the Malacca Strait network, Ade. From Ade, it is known that the KHF 1937 ship often enters Indonesian waters at night to catch fish, “he said.

Furthermore, Brigadier General Yassin said on Friday (7/5) Kp Bisma 8001 Ditpolair carried out patrols in the Malacca Strait. This time the officers caught the SLFA 3082 ship caught in the hands of using a trawl net in Indonesian waters.

The suspects of illegal fishing that were secured from the SLFA 3082 ship were Wonna (32) as the skipper with three crew members, namely Yinmaungaye (22), Boo (38), Tangyi (27). They stole Indonesian fish to be brought to Malaysia.
